2/10/2026 I just heard of the passing of “Coach” Dick Kellom. As a student from 1965 through 1968 I consider myself to have been fortunate to experience the extraordinary teaching, coaching and and genuine kindness of Dick Kellom. Steadfast in his beliefs in and values of educating “the head, hand and heart”, he imparted lasting values that have continued to guide me through life’s ups and downs to this day. I can only hope that I have, in some small way, lived up to goals and hopes that he instilled in me so many years ago.
As a total bonus, our son Greg (NHM ’96) was privy to this towering educator in the same roles as I was as a teenager. We both are fortunate to have had Dick Kellom as part of out lives.
I must add, that Lynn Kellom was as an important supporter, too. Always positive, thoughtful and ingrained in the NMH community. Dick and Lynn actually entrusted me with babysitting their young offspring Kristin and Jeffery on numerous occasions. Ends up Kristin was Greg’s advisor and cheerleader during his tenure at NMH from 1994-1996.
How fortunate are were to have had the Kellom family involved in our lives for so many years.
My heartfelt wishes to the entire family at this difficult time.
